"SENSOR SWAB is recommended by LEICA CAMERA AG for cleaning the LEICA S1 CCD chip." On page 77 of the DMR Manual (pdf) Leica says: "If the adhering particles cannot be removed using the method described, Leica recommends cleaning with “Sensor Swab” (type 3, width 24mm) in conjunction with the “Eclipse” cleaning solution made by Photographic Solutions Inc.. Do not use the Pec*Pad cloths supplied to clean the sensor. In addition, make sure that the instructions enclosed with the products are exactly followed. More details and dealer addresses for this cleaning system can be found at: http://www.photosol.com." |

We still include an e-wipe sample pack with every Better Light scanning back, and our User's Manual recommends (and demonstrates) using e-wipes to clean the image sensor. We truly believe that these nifty little packages are the best way to clean our sensors. Mike Collette Better Light |
I heartily endorse your Sensor Swabs, Eclipse solution, and e-Wipes. They have all performed great for me over the years, with my old film cameras, to my new digital still cameras, and now my new HDCAM high-definition videocameras. Norbert Wu |
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/prophoto/sensorcleaning.mspx SensorSwab and Eclipse Photographic Solutions (www.photosol.com) produces SensorSwabs, applicators with sterile pads, and Eclipse, a refined methanol solution. This system will remove most specks and dust and, though expensive since the swabs can only be used once, is one of the most effective methods for cleaning sensors. |

I
have been and still am a Certified Photo Equipment Technician since
1975 and a paid Professional Photographer since 1970. I was also
an aerospace engineer for 14 of those years. I am extremely picky,
and very impressed with the outstanding quality and ease of use
of your Eclipse cleaning solution and Sensor Swabs. I have been
using them on Fuji and Nikon professional Digital SLR’s for
over 18 months with outstanding results each time. I have personally
cleaned over 200 CCD’s during this time with extreme gratitude
from my customers. I use these products on my own personal Nikon
gear, as I have not seen any damage done to any of the CCD’s
or their filters or the electronics when used properly, as instructed.
I applaud companies that get it right the first time. There are
only a handful of those out there and you are one of them. |
Hi David, Just a note to tell you that your Sensor Swabs and Eclipse are a great "solution" to cleaning the CCD on my Nikon D1H. I
tried several other routes including a dust blower and none of them
really clean the CCD like the swabs. It is so damn irritating to
find dust spots on every photo from a shoot that I keep the swabs
in my camera bag and clean the CCD before each shoot. I change lenses
frequently and this is the be way I know to get rid of the dust
and specks that seem irresistibly drawn to the CCD. A great product;
every Nikon owner should own it. |
"I have used PEC-12 for most of my career to clean my transparencies. It's great stuff, and it has worked magic by cleaning valuable originals which I thought were destroyed by careless publishers and printers... Photographic Solutions has come out with a new lens cleaner and photo wipes. Like their other products, the lens cleaner and photo wipes have been rigorously tested and work wonders. I am using them exclusively now to clean my camera optics." Norbert

Keeping
Chromes in Pristine Condition with PEC-12® Jim Brandenburg "We routinely use PEC-12 to clean all chromes as they are returned from various publishers. Any lingering finger or separation oils are easily removed and the chromes are returned to their original pristine condition." |
| "E-Wipes work. They really do! Get factory
clean results in the field." Ken Boydston, President, MegaVision. |

| "Whether
Im filming in the arid, dusty conditions of the East African
savannahs or in the frigid, violent winds of the Patagonian pampas,
Ive found Eclipse® ideal for cleaning my lenses
quickly and without streaks." Art Wolfe |
"On
a number of occasions PEC-12 has saved the day. If
we used other film cleaners it would have been curtains for the
slide. With PEC-12 and a cotton swab, the slide is
as good as new. PEC-12 completely cleans our images
and restores them to their original condition to be used again. Thanks
for a product that does what it's advertised to do - in the end,
making our lives a little less stressful!" |
| I just tried your Sensor Swabs and Ecilpse cleaner on my Fuji S1. My camera is used in extreme environments and the CCD had become contaminated. Following the instructions on the Fuji website, I used your product and it worked perfectly. Thanks! -- Curt J. Egerer, P.E. | |
| Though
the light and weather change all around me one thing remains constant.
For years, PED*PADs have been my solution for cleaning slides and
prints. Using them with PEC-12 ® Photographic Emulsion Cleaner assures
me of a consistently clean image in a matter of seconds! Dewitt Jones |
I just wanted to complement the design and efficiency of the Sensor Swabs using them on my Fuji S2 Pro Camera. After the first swab my CCD was clean enough to make me happy, but the second one made it even better. As much as I dreaded to use them it was a piece of cake, it was so easy and everything went just fine. I have a couple of small particles remaining on the same location but they are small and can be easily fixed in Photoshop. Actually if I do not use the auto contrast they are not even visible. I am convinced that there is no perfect CCD and this is "as good as it gets", I am happy. Regards, Julius Kovatch |
Just
wanted to drop you a note and tell you what an excellent product
Pec-12 is. It helped me restore a rare vintage Rock and Roll print
of Duane Allman to its original glory. Someone had pretty much
ruined this image by trying to hide various original negative
imperfections with a black magic marker pen. The final crushing
blow was that someone had also sprayed the entire image with a
lacquer or varnish in uneven strokes to hide the orange peel as
a result of this print being dry mounted. When I bought this print
it was pretty much well a basket case to say the least. I did
some testing of your Pec-12 product in a couple small areas to
test it out and to my amazement it was working. I bought the product
and went home to try it out. Most of the thirty black marker marks
came out. It took me close to four hours. The end result is pretty
incredible considering that this print initially appeared to be
a hopeless cause before I started. I am a frequent contributor
of images to the Allman Brothers Band official web site "Hittin
The Web." I have added this image to the web site thanks
to your product. We have never seen this image before and it is
quite a rare find! Best
Regards, |
